Our VHF net is a relaxed, conversational net held on local repeaters. It’s an easy entry point for new hams and a reliable way for experienced operators to stay connected with the local amateur radio community.

This net emphasizes:

• Regular on-air activity

• Signal reports and informal conversation

• Familiarity with local repeaters and operating practices

A great “first net” if you’re new to checking in.

The HF NVIS (Near Vertical Incidence Skywave) net focuses on regional HF communications using antennas and techniques well-suited for local and regional coverage.

This net is ideal for:

• Operators interested in emergency and regional communications

• Learning practical HF operation without chasing DX

• Experimenting with antennas and propagation at shorter distances

It’s a practical, real-world application of HF that rewards experimentation and learning.

The Winlink net provides hands-on practice using radio-based email and message handling—an increasingly important skill in modern amateur radio.

Participants can expect:

• Guided practice sending and receiving Winlink messages

• Familiarity with digital message handling

• Experience useful for public service and emergency communications

This net is especially helpful for operators who want to move beyond voice and explore practical digital capabilities.

SVARC offers CW (Morse code) training and practice nets for operators who are learning, returning to CW, or simply want structured practice.

These sessions typically include:

• Slow, deliberate sending for learning and copying practice

• Read-back and voice confirmation to reinforce accuracy

• A supportive environment that prioritizes learning over speed

CW experience is not required to participate—these nets exist specifically to help operators build confidence at their own pace.
