Weekly Amateur Radio Nets
in the Susquehanna Valley
One of the best ways to stay active on the air—and connected to other operators—is by checking in to a net. The Susquehanna Valley Amateur Radio Club hosts several weekly nets designed to support learning, encourage regular operating, and provide a welcoming on-air community for hams of all experience levels.
You do not need to be a club member to participate. All licensed amateurs are welcome.

Our weekly nets
SVARC currently hosts the following recurring nets. Each net has its own focus and operating style, but all share the same goal: helping operators get on the air and stay there.
Whether you’re brand new to HF, brushing up on CW, experimenting with digital messaging, or just looking for a friendly voice on VHF, our nets offer a low-pressure way to build skills and confidence.
VHF Voice net

This net emphasizes:
-
Regular on-air activity
-
Signal reports and informal conversation
-
Familiarity with local repeaters and operating practices

CW training & practice nets
SVARC offers CW (Morse code) training and practice nets for operators who are learning, returning to CW, or simply want structured practice.
These sessions typically include:
-
Slow, deliberate sending for learning and copying practice
-
Read-back and voice confirmation to reinforce accuracy
-
A supportive environment that prioritizes learning over speed
CW experience is not required to participate—these nets exist specifically to help operators build confidence at their own pace.

Why participate in a net?
Regular net participation helps you:
-
Become more comfortable operating your equipment
-
Improve on-air etiquette and confidence
-
Learn from others in real time
-
Stay active, even when you’re not chasing contacts or contests
For newer hams, nets provide structure and encouragement. For experienced operators, they’re a way to give back, share knowledge, and keep skills sharp.
